A Raymond man was arrested almost a year after an investigation was launched following an allegation of a sexual assault. The man is currently being held in Pacific County Jail on one count of second-degree child molestation.

The Pacific County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation on April 16, 2025, after relatives of a teen reported that she had come forward about being sexually assaulted by Trampess W. Sanders, 41. The investigation was led by Deputies Micah Ristow and Lucas Marthaller.

According to court documents, the alleged sexual assault occurred at Sanders’ residence on Heckard Road outside of Raymond. The alleged sexual assault reportedly occurred while a teen was sleeping on a couch.

Due to the disturbing nature of the allegations, no additional information will be provided about the alleged sexual assault incident.

A sexual assault exam was conducted to look for DNA on the alleged victim from Sanders.

“I later received results from the Washington State Crime Lab regarding the Sexual Assault kit provided by [the teen] indicating male DNA was found. …” Deputy Kevin Acdal said in court documents. “I was further informed the DNA found was suitable for Y-STR testing.”

According to court documents, Acdal interviewed Trampess on July 23, 2025.

“Trampess was informed [the teen] had a sexual assault kit collected from her and asked if his DNA would be found. …,” Acdal said in court documents. “Trampess stated there would be a chance his DNA would be found … but only because they were wrestling around.”

The investigators reportedly specified where the DNA was located, and asked if his would be found there, to which Sanders reportedly stated “Not that I know of. Not that there should be.”

“I applied and was granted a search warrant to collect DNA Buccal Swabs from Trampess. Those swabs were sent to the Washington State Crime Lab to be compared with the DNA that was found. … I received results on March 19, 2026, that stated, ‘… This Y-STR profile matches the Y-STR profile of Trampess Sanders.”

Sanders was arrested by the sheriff’s office on March 21 at 10:03 a.m. and booked into the jail at 11:33 p.m.

According to court documents, Sanders appeared in the Pacific County Superior Court on March 23, and Judge Donald J. Richter set his bail was set at $100,000.
