Lois V. Gill

Lois V. Gill, a longtime resident of Grays Harbor County passed away in Sequim, Washington on February 20, 2023, at the age of 94. Lois was born in Aberdeen, Washington on December 26, 1928, the daughter of Arthur and Alice Tiala. She grew up in Aberdeen and graduated from Ocosta High School. Lois spent one year of college at the University of Washington taking business courses before returning to the Harbor. Lois married Jack Gill in Grayland, Washington on April 12, 1949. They lived in Westport, Washington shortly after marriage and were owners and operators of the Knotty Pine Tavern in Westport, WA between 1951 and 1988.
Lois loved to travel and enjoy the local culture and cuisine. Over her lifetime she traveled over a large portion of the United States and visited many foreign countries including, Mexico, Germany, Canada, the Caribbean, and the Netherlands. She frequently traveled to Southern California to visit her high school friend Sylvia Wall, and to Hawaii and Las Vegas with her childhood friend Helen Sparks. While Lois was not much for the outdoors, she truly enjoyed going to the beach with her family and friends to dig razor clams or watch the fireworks on the Fourth of July. Lois also enjoyed playing the slot machines and enjoying a buffet meal at the local casinos in Tokeland, Sequim and Ocean Shores with her family and friends.
Lois was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Jack Gill. She is survived by her two sons, Gary Gill (and wife Marlie) of Sequim, Washington and Larry Gill of Marysville, Washington; and four grandchildren, Taylor Gill of Austin Texas, Lindsay Loughnan of Arlington, Washington, Ethan Gill of Sequim, Washington and Chelsea Drum of Port Angeles, Washington.
