Choker women run winning streak to 17

C.C. WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Chokers 76, Titans 65

It was a bit of an up and down performance but Grays Harbor’s women came through with a 32-point second quarter to increase their winning streak to 17 with a home victory over Tacoma Community College on Wednesday.

The game featrued a well-balanced scoring effort with Alexia Thrower leading the way with 20 points and 13 rebounds. Angela Sikora added 15 points for the Chokers (5-0, 17-1).

Chokers head coach Chad Allan said his team is still learning how to protect leads and put teams away.

“We are still learning the right way to play with a lead and trying to strengthen our bench with longer playing minutes,” he said. “Learning is tough sometimes.”

The Chokers will try to keep the winning streak going when they take on Green River on the road on Saturday.

Tacoma nipped Grays Harbor College in an NWAC Western Division contest Wednesday at the GHC gym.

Wolves 78, Bobcats 23

TUMWATER — Black Hills trounced Aberdeen in an Evergreen 2A Conference game Wednesday night at Tumwater.
