Tuesday Prep Roundup: Elma girls wrap up share of league title

Elma girls trounce Tenino to nail down league title

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Eagles 71, Beavers 22

ELMA — Led by Jalyn Sackrider’s 20 points, Elma emphatically earned no worse than a share of the Evergreen 1A League girls basketball championship by routing Tenino on Tuesday.

The Eagles finished the regular season at 9-1 in league and 19-1 overall. Although Montesano could gain a tie for the league title with a win at Hoquiam on Friday, Elma will receive the top-seeded district berth by virtue of point differential.

There was little doubt about Tuesday’s outcome. The Eagles led 30-16 at the half, then sealed the deal by outscoring the Beavers 27-2 in the third quarter. Sackrider scored 12 in that quarter.

Elma’s Kali Rambo attained a double-double with 12 points and 10 steals.

The Eagles will draw a first-round bye and open district competition Feb. 10 in a game at Hoquiam.
