Spradlin, Cain, Adams earn all-state basketball honors

For three Twin Harbor basketball players, the 2016-17 season allowed them to add one title to their names — all-state.

Seniors Jordan Spradlin, of Montesano, and Zach Cain, of Taholah, were voted onto the 2017 Washington All-State girls and boys basketball teams in their classifications, respectively.

Senior Jack Adams III, of Hoquiam just missed first-team honors and was selected as an honorable mention.

Spradlin led the 19-6 Bulldogs to the Evergreen 1A League title, second place in the District IV 1A tournament and a first-round appearance at the state 1A tournament. Spradlin, who’ll attend the University of Arizona on a track &field scholarship in the fall, averaged 23.3 points and 15.3 rebounds per game this season. She finished with 1,956 career points at Montesano, a school record.

This is Spradlin’s third straight first-team all-state 1A selection and four straight all-state honor. Spradlin was a first-team selection in 2015 and 2016 and an honorable mention in 2014.

Cain averaged 17.7 points per game, 11.3 rebounds and 3.8 steals per game to lead the Coastal 1B League and District IV 1B champion Chitwhins this season. At the WIBCA All-Star games, Cain scored 22 points for the state 1B team.

Cain was an all-state honorable mention selection last season.

Adams led the 17-8 Grizzlies to the state 1A first round and finished as the school’s all-time scoring leader with 1,645 points. Adams averaged 22.2 points and 6.6 rebounds per game and set the school’s single-season scoring mark with 555 points. At the WIBCA All-Star games, Adams scored 20 points for the state 1A team.

This is Adams’ first all-state team selection.
