Poggies to meet Wednesday

The Grays Harbor Poggie Club will meet at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoquiam Elks Hall.

Wildcats knock off HHS JV, 20-6

At La Center, Garrett Dick’s touchdown run in the fourth quarter and Miles Malone’s safety in the second quarter was Hoquiam’s lone points in a 20-6 loss in junior varsity football on Monday.

Malone sacked the quarterback in the end zone for the safety. Dick ran in from 4 yards out late in the game.

Malone on defense and Jonah Doll on offense were cited by HHS coaches for their efforts.

On Monday, Hoquiam travels to Tenino.

Local fundraiser held on Saturday

The Grays Harbor Deputy Sheriff’s Association held its inaugural fundraiser with a basketball game at Montesano Junior High School on Saturday.

The Fire team won 74-39, led by Derek Jensen’s 22 points. The Ice team was led by Ryan Tully with 14 points.

The event raised $340 for the association’s scholarship program, youth activities and “Shop with a Cop” program.
