Five members of Pe Ell-Willapa Valley’s league champions selected.

Five members of Pe Ell-Willapa Valley’s league champions were named to the Southwest Washington 2B League’s All-Coastal Division football team announced this week.

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley’s Tyson Nissell was a three-way selection — earning first-team recognition as a running back, linebacker and punter. Teammates Peter Hamilton, Ryan Shepherd, Brad Prestegord and Cub Bair were also all-league selections.

South Bend’s Ben Byington, Drew Rose, Raul Mora, Josiah Markwell and Michael Oropeza, Raymond’s Taevon Hubbard, McCartney Maden and Christian Anderson and Ocosta’s Austin McDonald, Joe Wardlow and Grant Reid were also first-team selections.

South Bend senior Ben Byington, also an all-league running back, was chosen as the division’s Defensive Most Valuable Player. Ilwaco running back Brandon McMullen was the Offensive MVP.

Luke Abbott, who guided an inexperienced Raymond team to second in the division, and Shane Byington, who directed South Bend to its first winning record in several years, shared Coach of the Year honors.
