CASTLE ROCK — Kylan Touch rushed for 308 yards and four touchdowns as Aberdeen took a shootout from Castle Rock in a non-league game Friday at Castle Rock.

Touch’s rushing total, on 36 carries, was only 18 yards shy of his school-record total from the previous week against Elma.

With Ben Dublanko adding a 20-yard touchdown pass to Zeiah Embry, the Bobcats (2-2) logged 436 yards of total offense and punted only once.

But they still had difficulty shaking the Class 1A Rockets. Castle Rock cut Aberdeen’s lead to 28-21 on Brady Bach’s 11-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter.

Still nursing a seven-point lead in the final three minutes, the Bobcats faced a fourth-and-eight situation on the Rocket 48-yard line.

Operating from the wildcat formation, Touch took a direct snap and raced 48 yards for the clinching touchdown.

“I figured that was better than them running down the field and winning the game,” Aberdeen coach Kevin Ridout said of the decision to forego the punt in that situation.

Touch’s other scoring runs were from 3, 25 and 5 yards out. Gio Pisani was perfect on five conversion attempts.

Although acknowledging some concern about his team’s defense, Ridout cited the defensive play of Derrell Shale, Skyler Murray and Bailey Delahanty.
