Abriana Ness’ goal, Kristi Raffelson’s 7 saves lead to Wildcats victory

Occosta’s Abriana Ness scored early on and goalkeeper Krisiti Raffelson stopped everything that was sent her way in the Wildcats’ 1-0 win at Napavine on Monday.

Ness scored the only goal of the match in the third minute when a shot from Teal Mitby deflected off of Napavine’s keeper, allowing Ness to put away the rebound.

Ocosta defenders Maia Soderlund, Kianna Battiste and Piper Furford played solidly in front of Raffelson, who picked up the seven-save shutout.

Ocosta (5-2, 5-2 2B Pacific) travels to Tacoma to take on Life Christian at 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Tenino 3, Elma 1

The Eagles dropped to 4-4-1 on the season after a 3-1 loss to Tenino on Monday at Tenino High School.

The Beavers (7-1, 1-0 Evergreen 1A) took a 2-0 lead in the first half with goals in the 24th and 27th minutes.

After the half, Elma’s Kassedy Olson scored off an assist from Molly Johnston to cut Tenino’s lead in half in the 34th minute.

But the Beavers scored an insurance goal in the 49th minute and keept Elma scoreless the rest of the way to hand the Eagles their second consecutive loss.

“We just made some foolish decisions tonight,” Elma head coach Scott Rockey said. “We got out of sorts against a fast, physical team.”

Elma drops to 0-1 in the 1A Evergreen league with the loss.

The Eagles host Hoquiam at 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Aberdeen 228, Tumwater 237

Jaxon Larson shot the second lowest score on the course and led the way for the Bobcats in their 228-237 win over Tumwater (2-4, 2-4) on Monday.

Aberdeen (2-4, 3-3) got a score of 40 from Larson and scores of 44 from Nolan King and George White. Evan Waara rounded out the scoring with a 47.

“This is the team score we have been waiting for all season. Everything fell into place today,” Said Aberdeen head coach Dan Sundstrom. “Jaxson was on fire, Nolan loves playing at Highlands and Evan had his best score of the season.”

Aberdeen will head to Riverside Golf Course to play Rochester on Thursday.

PREP VOLLEYBALL

North Beach 3, Taholah 2

The North Beach Hyaks rallied from down two sets to defeat the Taholah Chitwins, 3-2, on Monday at North Beach High School.

The Chitwins won the first two sets, 26-24 and 25-16, and had the Hyaks on the ropes before North Beach (2-2) responded by winning three straight sets, 26-24, 25-17 and 15-6.

Skye Bartell led the Hyaks with 13 kills and 15 digs. Lorin Cox had a team-high 17 kills and Maddy Eang tallied 33 assists for North Beach.

The Hyaks face Northwest Christian at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Lacey.
