Aberdeen bowling opens season with two wins

The Aberdeen Bobcats girls bowling team got their 2018-19 campaign off to a good start with back-to-back wins over Olympia and Rochester on Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively.

Aberdeen 1510, Olympia 1302

Aberdeen got its season off to a promising start on Tuesday night with a 1,510-1,302 win over the Olympia Bears at Westside Lanes in Olympia.

The Bobcats’ Bryerlee Perry led the way in the season-opener, posting a score of 163 in her first game and 112 in the second for a total of 275.

Annabelle Micheau posted the highest score of the day with 166 pins in her first game to help give her a total of 266.

Aberdeen and Olympia split the baker games with the Bobcats winning the first one 106-96 and the Bears getting a one-pin victory in the second by a score of 96-95.

The scoring system used was based on total pin count, which is the system used in the South Puget Sports League. Aberdeen, whose league uses a match-play scoring system, held a 15-3 advantage in matches. Either way, Aberdeen head coach David Bruncke liked what he saw from his team in their first match of the season.

“The Bobcats played very well today,” he said.
