Multiple Aberdeen student-athletes named to all-league teams

A total of 17 Aberdeen student-athletes were named to their respective 2A Evergreen all-league teams earlier this month.

Topping the lists was a pair of girls soccer co-captains — Emmy Walsh and Emma Green — and volleyballer Tamara Corona, all of whom were named to the First Team.

As the Bobcats’ libero, Corona had a stellar season. The senior led Aberdeen with 233 digs, more than double any of her teammates (15.5 per-match average) and had 347 serve receptions to just 39 errors.

Walsh, a junior forward, and Green, a sophomore midfielder, were both named first-teamers for a Bobcats squad that just missed a playoff berth despite being a young team that featured just four seniors.

A pair of Aberdeen cross country athletes won first-team all-league recognition. Sophomore Skyler Taylor took eighth place at the league championships in October to earn first-team status in the girls race on Oct. 16. Fellow Bobcat Gary Sherman, a freshman, placed 10th in the boys race to earn the league’s final First Team award.

Boys golfer Jaxson Larson also earned league first-team honors . The senior averaged 42.4 shots-per-round in the 2A Evergreen League this season, which was the sixth best mark for all league golfers.
