A total of four Aberdeen softball players and one Bobcat baseball player received honors as the 2A Evergreen League announced its all-league team this week.
The Bobcats’ Reagan Glanz was the only Aberdeen athlete to receive first-team honors, being honored for her duties as the softball team’s starting catcher.
Glanz was a tough out this season at the plate and came up with two hits and six RBI in Aberdeen’s win over RA Long that sent the team to the district tournament.
Glanz’s teammate and fellow senior Angel Jones was one of three players named second-team all-conference. In the team’s high-scoring season-ending loss at districts, Jones came up with two RBI and a double.
Jalyn McDaniel received second-team honors for her work in the circle. McDaniel started the vast majority of games for the Bobcats and had a particularly strong game late in the season against Rochester where she struck out eight in a much-needed win.
Sierra Hammond was a key part of the top of the lineup and put pressure on the defense with her speed on the bases. Hammond ended the season on a 13-game hit streak.
Freshman Eli Brown was the lone player on the Bobcats baseball team to receive conference honors, being named as a second-team infielder.
