Forks skewers Eagles

Prep football: Spartans 20, Eagles 3

FORKS — Host Forks proved more opportunistic than Elma in ending the Eagles’ playoff hopes on Friday.

The Eagles (1-2, 3-5) had no shortage of scoring chances. Due to turnovers and missed fourth-down conversions, however, they were unable to convert.

“It was just a night of missed opportunities,” Elma coach Ron Clark said.

Alejandro Hernandez’s field goal of approximately 35 yards represented Elma’s only scoring.

Cody Vollan and Brady Shriver were cited by Clark for strong defensive play.

The Eagles will host Montesano in this year’s renewal of the East County Civil War on Friday.
