East County players dominate all-Evergreen 1A teams

East County players dominated the all-Evergreen 1A boys and girls basketball teams announced recently.

Montesano senior wing Trevor Ridgway received the boys Most Valuable Player award. Monte’s L.J. Valley and Sam Winter, Hoquiam’s Victor James and Elma’s Cody Vollan were also first-team selections.

Elma junior forward Molly Johnston earned the girls MVP honors. Her Eagle teammates Jalyn Sackrider and Quin Mikel were also first team selections, as were Montesano’s Zoe Hutchings and Zoee Lisherness.

Lisa Johnson, who guided Elma to a share of the league championship with Montesano and the top-seeded district berth, was voted by her peers as the Evergreen 1A Girls Coach of the Year.

Doug Galloway, who directed Montesano to the league title, shared Boys Coach of the Year honors with Forks’ Rick Gooding.
