May 6, 1916 - February 9, 2012

Yukiko E. Takagi, 95, of Olympia, Washington, passed away from natural causes on February 9, 2012, at Evergreen Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born on May 6, 1916, in Santa Barbara, California, the daughter of the late B.M. Takagi and Riu Yoshimoto-Takagi. She was the youngest of four, and is preceded in death by a brother, Fred Takagi; and sisters, Chiyo Hirota and Teru.

She is survived by her nephews, Bill Hirota, Dick Hirota, Fred (his wife, Linda) Hirota, and Ed (his wife, Deanna) Hirota; and her nieces, Irene (her husband, Don) Ohashi, Louis (her husband, Glen) Ono, and Susan Lamb.

Yuki is also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Alec and Renate Takagi of Ocean Shores, Washington; son, David Takagi in South America; and daughter, Miya Ramsey of Seattle, Washington; her grandson, John Takagi (his wife, Rachel) of Ocean Shores, Washington. One of her greatest joys was her great-grandchildren, Joshua and Emily Takagi, of Ocean Shores, Washington.

She graduated from Santa Barbara High School in 1934. In 1938, she moved to Japan, where she met and married Michio Koisumi. They divorced in 1951, and she returned to Seattle, Washington. She worked as a professional bookkeeper in the public and private sector for most of her life. Yuki was an avid gardener, who took great pride in her vegetable garden. She loved playing Scrabble and Yahtzee with her family (she was the Scrabble champ), and the occasional poker game with her grandson. Some of her other interests included bowling and traveling.

The family is going to hold a private ceremony for Yuki, and wishes to thank everyone for their prayers and well wishes.
