Merial S. Ferry died peacefully on February 17, 2012, of natural causes at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. Merial was born in Glentana, Montana, on July 7, 1926, to Walter Matthias and Wanda Vance Sauber. She graduated from Port Townsend High School and attended the University of Washington.
She married John (Jack) A. Ferry in 1947, and raised eight children in San Gabriel and Los Altos, California. She returned to Washington to raise two granddaughters in Cosmopolis. She was a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is survived by her husband, Jack; daughters, Barbara (Wayne) Batchelor and Monica (Brendan) Daly; sons, Michael (Karen), Richard (Christine), and Thomas (Teresa) Ferry; granddaughters, Jacquelyn, Brittany, and Jillian Ferry, and Rachel and Rebecca Anzur; grandsons, Colin Daly, Reilly (Ana) Johnson, and Matthew Johnson; great-granddaughter, Zoe Johnson; great-grandson, Reilly E. Johnson; and brother, John Sauber. Three children preceded her in death, Patrick Ferry, Scott Ferry, and Jane Anzur, as well as her sister, Blanche Robinson.
She will be remembered for her sense of humor and wit, her loyalty to her family, her delight in children, and her strength and endurance. Arrangements are entrusted to Fern Hill Funeral Home. Interment will be at Holyrood Cemetery in Shoreline, Washington, at a future date.
