Luther L. Adams, a 60 year Harbor resident died on Monday, February 6, 2012, in Montesano. He was 97. Luther was born June 14, 1914, in Hillsboro, Oregon, to Robert and Bernice (Treadwell) Adams, where he grew up and attended school. He married Clara P. Adams in Hillsboro June 6, 1954. She preceded him in death.
Luther served in the United States Army during World War II in the European Theater for 4-1/2 years where he reached the rank of Technician 5th Grade. Luther worked at Grays Harbor Paper/ITT Rayonier for 30 years until his retirement in 1976. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Aberdeen until it merged with First Baptist of Hoquiam. He enjoyed family vacations and when he retired, he began bowling which he loved to do. He also enjoyed taking pictures of the “Tall Ships” and spending time at the Baptist Church “Camp Bethel” near Humptulips.
Luther is survived by his children, Cheryl (Jerry) Brown of Aberdeen and Robert Adams of Aberdeen; 4 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
To honor his request, there will be no services. The family suggests memorial donations be made to Camp Bethel c/o First Baptist Church of Hoquiam, PO Box 743, Hoquiam, WA 98550.
