Johanne Allison Mingo

April 22, 1930 - February 11, 2012

April 22, 1930 - February 11, 2012

Johanne Allison Mingo was born April 22, 1930, in Seattle, Washington, to John E. and Catherine Allison Mingo. A long-time resident of Grays Harbor, she passed into eternity on February 11, 2012, in Aberdeen after a very brief illness.

After graduating with the class of 1948, from Mt. Baker High School in Deming, Wash., the Mingo family returned to Seattle in 1950. Johanne attended Seattle University and subsequently started a career in banking with Seattle First National bank in 1951. In 1967, she transferred to the Westport branch. Her mother, Catherine A. Mingo; brother, John E. Mingo Jr.; sister, Jane Mingo-Brown and family; and sister, Maria Mingo-Howard also moved to Grayland at that time. She retired in 1976, as the Assistant Manager of the Westport Branch of Seattle First National Bank after 25 years service. Johanne then embarked upon a second career in local real estate. She also belonged to many community organizations.

Johanne was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, John “Sonny” Mingo Jr. and Michael S. Mingo.

Johanne was devoted to her many nieces and nephews and loved to share her knowledge of hunting, fishing and carpentry with them. She was an accomplished cabinet maker and model train enthusiast. Most of all, she was caring and unselfish. She will be sorely missed.

Ms. Mingo is survived by her sisters, Mrs. Jane (Warren) Brown of Laveen, Ariz. and Mrs. Maria (Bill) Howard of Aberdeen, plus numerous other family. A private memorial has been planned for a later date.
