Aberdeen police have arrested six men in recent days for allegedly attempting to hire a prostitute who was actually a female officer working as an undercover decoy.
Capt. John Green said officers arrested a 62-year-old Montesano man and a 54-year-old Aberdeen man Monday evening along M Street. Officers made four more arrests Tuesday night, booking three Aberdeen men and a Hoquiam man for attempting to pick up a prostitute.
The arrests were part of new emphasis patrols focusing on prostitution complaints. Green said investigators have been pleased with the recent arrests.
“We’re gettting good results,” he said. “We definitely have a problem, so we’re working on it.”
Aberdeen officers arrested 10 people for prostitution or soliciting prostitution last week in a series of initial patrols. Green said the department would continue new patrols to crack down on downtown prostitution activity.
