18-year-old arrested over inappropriate Facebook messages

Aberdeen police arrested an 18-year-old transient man Thursday for allegedly sending sexually explicit messages and photos to a 13-year-old Aberdeen girl through Facebook.

Detective Jon Hudson said the girl’s parents discovered the messages and were able to identify the man. Police took him into custody Thursday afternoon on suspicion of communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.

“They were casually introduced some time last year,” Hudson said of the teens, saying they used Facebook to exchange “inappropriate conversations and photographs.”

Hudson said investigators have not found any evidence of direct contact, saying the messaging had started about a week ago. The girl’s parents found the messages while monitoring the her computer.

The 18-year-old was booked into the Aberdeen City Jail.
