Want to learn ukulele?

Learn to play the ukulele in a little over an hour while having a lot of fun and joining the ranks of others across the country who have learned from “The Ukalaliens.” Professional musicians and recording artists Kate Power and Steve Einhorn will teach the ukulele to adults and teens at the Amanda Park Timberland Library from 3 to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday.

The workshop is for beginners and the “uke-curious” and is free of charge. Pre-register at the library information desk. Loaner ukes are available for the class but people are welcome to bring their own if they have them.

Power and Einhorn are nationally touring concert musicians from Portland who have shared the stage with folk artists such as Pete Seeger and have performed on Garrison Keillor’s radio program, A Prairie Home Companion. Their aim is to teach the basics of how to make beautiful music from the beginning in a way that builds confidence and community. “Music self-played is happiness self-made,” is the Ukalaliens’ motto.
