Lifelong Cosmopolis resident William “Bill” Hays Bramstedt passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019, at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington.

Lifelong Cosmopolis resident William “Bill” Hays Bramstedt passed away Sunday, March 17, 2019, at PeaceHealth Southwest Medical Center in Vancouver, Washington. He was 76. He was born in Aberdeen, Washington on July 11, 1942 to Albert Carl and Dorothy Elizabeth (Hays) Bramstedt.

Bill graduated from JM Weatherwax High School in 1960. He attended Grays Harbor Community College and graduated from WSU in 1996 with a BA in Business Administration. He served in the U.S. National Guard from 1966 – 1977. Bill was the President/CEO of Bramstedt Sales, Inc. and retired in 2008.

On May 27, 1972, he married Jeannine Michelle (Cross) Bramstedt in Seattle, Washington.

Bill was a member of the Boy Scouts of America and received his Eagle Scout and held outpost at Scout National Jamboree in Denver, Colorado; he was a firefighter, EMT and former chief of the Cosmopolis Fire Department. He was a past Exalted Ruler of the Aberdeen Elks. Since 1966, he had been a member of Elks National Foundation. He was presently the Cosmopolis Lion’s Club Treasurer, a member of Cosmopolis United Methodist Church until it merged with Aberdeen in 1967 and he attended St. Germain Episcopal Church in Hoodsport, Washington. He was the President of Grays Harbor Chamber of Commerce from 2000 – 2001, and was nominated Citizen of the Year by Leroy Tipton.

Bill was active in the Hunter Association of Puget Sound (HAPS) sailboat club; he was manager of Rain or Shine Jazz Festival and Diane LaRoque nominated him as Boss of the Year in 1991.

Bill is survived by his wife; two sons: John Carl Bramstedt (Jennifer) of Cosmopolis and Michael Alan Bramstedt (Satomi) of Fort Meade, Maryland; brother: Richard Ray (KMarcella) of Cosmopolis; grandchildren: Felix Sebastian and Oliver Hayes; nephew: William Oscar and niece: Kerry Lynn.

A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, at Harrison Family Mortuary. A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 22, at Aberdeen First United Methodist Church (2nd & Broadway).
