William A. Cookston (Bill)

William Arthur Cookston (Bill) passed away on April 25, 2018. Born in Upton, Wyo. to Clarence and Grace (Norris) Cookston on May 9, 1933, he was the eighth of 12 children.

William Arthur Cookston (Bill) passed away on April 25, 2018. Born in Upton, Wyo. to Clarence and Grace (Norris) Cookston on May 9, 1933, he was the eighth of 12 children. He lived in Montana and graduated from Bonners Ferry, Idaho. He spent four years in the Navy during the Korean war. He moved to Montesano in 1956.

Bill worked many years at Brumfield Twidwell as a mechanic and sales manager, retiring from Grays Harbor County as an equipment supervisor. He was active in the VFW and the Masonic Lodge. He loved hunting, camping, fixing clocks and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Lois (Linklater) Cookston; his children Vicki Spang (Darryl), Bill Cookston Jr. (Sue) and Karen Harris (Keith); grandchildren Christopher Mariano, Brandi Hernandez (Jeff), Kyla Frasco (Jon), Krystal Harris, and Koby Harris; great-grandchildren Myles and Ryker Frasco; siblings Lela Brown, Tom Cookston, Arlene Guthrie, Faith Mathews, Scotty Cookston (JoAnne), Judy Mann and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Leo and Keith Cookston.

A memorial service will be held at the Montesano Presbyterian Church at 1 p.m. this afternoon, Saturday, April 28, 2018.
