Violet Larraine (Vann) Pittman, 89, a longtime resident of Elma, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018, at Tacoma General Hospital after complications from a stroke.

Violet Larraine (Vann) Pittman, 89, a longtime resident of Elma, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 5, 2018, at Tacoma General Hospital after complications from a stroke.

She was born June 9, 1929, in Yuba City, Calif. to Martin and Agnes Vann. She had two brothers and one sister who passed before her.

On April 15, 1947, in Yuba City, Calif. she married James (Speed) Ezra Pittman, who survives her in their family home. Together they had six children; James, Kathryn (Bruner), Ron, Gloria, Rhoda (McGrath), and Joe. Two of her children, James and Kathryn, and a granddaughter Terron, preceded her in death. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and many bonus family members.

Violet enjoyed camping, fishing, and family gatherings. She liked to take walks, tending to her hummingbird feeders and working in her flowerbeds. She also enjoyed a day out and about with the girls, especially her road trips to California with her daughters. Her family was her world.

A memorial service will be held at The McCleary Community Center on Wednesday, Aug. 15 at 1:00pm, with a graveside service to follow. A potluck/reception will be held at the Community Center.
