Timothy Jensen, 50, passed away in Kent, Wash. on April 18, 2018, after a two-year battle with cancer.

Tim was born on Jan. 24, 1968, in Seattle, Wash., to Fredric William (Bil) Jensen and Rose Marie Rigas (Beyer). He attended schools in Poulsbo and Aberdeen, graduating from Aberdeen Weatherwax High School in 1986 where he ran track. All during school, Tim loved art and discovered he had a gift for capturing a photographic likeness through his pencil portraits. Tim graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Northwest College of Art in Poulsbo, Wash.

Tim found a unique position in the computer game field working many years learning the latest 3D modeling, graphic design and photo editing software. This opportunity helped him take his artistic abilities to the next level giving his work greater accuracy and visual impact. Tim was also an avid photographer and, always with a camera in his hand, was constantly on the lookout for new subjects to represent.

Tim went on to start his own business, Tim Jensen Fine Art, creating an online website store front on etsy.com, and displaying his work at local art festivals. After starting to focus on his business full time, Tim learned he had esophageal cancer in which he fought courageously for two years.

Throughout the years Tim won numerous awards, both for his photography and his artwork. This included Best of Show in Ocean Shores and numerous other competitions including Edmonds, Shoreline and other local and online shows, and the Washington State Fair. At the Washington State Fair, Tim regularly demonstrated his drawing skills and was a judge for the juried art shows. One of his favorite awards was the “People’s Choice Award” which a great many of his drawings won over the years.

Tim is survived by his mother, Rose Beyer (Merv) of Cosmopolis; his brother Shawn (Kimmarie) Jensen, of Graham; sisters Sheryl (Steve) Kowalczik of Kent; niece Autumn Jensen and nephew Aaron Jensen. Tim was proceeded in death by his father Fredric (Bil) Jensen in October, 2017.

There will be a celebration of Tim’s life on Saturday, May 12, 2018, at 2 p.m. at Covington Community Room (in Covington City Hall), 16720 SE 271st Street, Suite 101, Covington, WA 98042.
