Thomas Frank Coyle, age 76, a longtime resident of Hoquiam, bravely passed away on June 6, 2017, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital.

Tom was born on Feb. 5, 1941, in Spokane, Wash. to John and Thelma Audrey (Smith) Coyle. He attended Spokane and Hoquiam area schools graduating from Grays Harbor Community College.

His hard work and admirable values led him to success as both an employee and an entrepreneur throughout his life on the harbor.

Tom was very much an outdoors adventurer. He had summited most of the major peaks in the area including Mt. Rainier, St. Helens, Baker, 3 Sisters, Olympus, and Colonel Bob Peak. He was proud to be one of the charter members of the Seattle Mountaineers. He also enjoyed hiking, camping and in later years found a love for golf and was the only person to win the men’s club championship at Highland Golf Course for three years in a row. Until recently, he still joined friends at the golf course for morning coffee.

Surviving relatives include best friend Donna Glanschneg; daughter Carrie Coyle-Balow and her husband Russ Balow of Edwall, Wash.; two sons and their spouses, Daniel and Shanna Coyle of Missoula, Mont. and David Coyle and Kerry Balow of Pullman, Wash.; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Mark Schuerman, Jeff DeBock, Ashlee Coyle, Jacqueline and Ramon Prigan, Tyler Coyle, Lorrainna Kamps, Lane and Kendra Coyle, Rachel Coyle, Michael Coyle, Adrianna Keeney, Alysen Coyle, Trace Coyle and Samantha Coyle; great-grandchildren, Ivy, Nevaeh, Presten, Sophia, Christian, Aurora, Oaklee and Jasmine. Tom is survived by a sister, Eleanor Miller and a brother, Edward Coyle and numerous nieces and nephews. A brother, Donald Coyle and sister, Beth Ann Burris precede him in death.

Tom’s anonymous generosity was a testament to his personality.
