Sherry Lynn Mattocks, 71 years of age and resident of Hoquiam for the past 46 years, died on Saturday, July 28, 2018, at her Hoquiam, Wash. home. She was born on Aug. 30, 1946, in Aberdeen, Wash. to Frederick Samuel and Shirley Anne (Thayer) Ellcey.

She attended the schools in the Hoquiam and North Beach areas.

Sherry Lynn Ellcey was married to John M. Mattocks on Feb. 29, 1964, in Pacific Beach, Wash. John died on Dec. 16, 2017. Friends and family were always welcomed into their home.

Sherry had worked at her Aunt Mae’s cannery at Copalis Beach, at the Surf and Sand Restaurant, the Green Lantern Pub, the Quinault Beach Casino, Cadillac Jack’s and other restaurants and cocktail lounges.

She enjoyed holiday’s especially Christmas. Family dinners, reading, cooking, crocheting, ceramics and playing bingo were her favorite activities. In recent years she enjoyed playing games on her computer as well as looking for new recipes. She was known as MeMa to her grandchildren and all of their friends.

Sherry is survived by her mother, Shirley A. Ellcey of Lacey, her daughters, Tammera A. Mattocks of Axford Prairie, Milissa Harper (Doug) of Lacey; her grandchildren, Kandra Asbury, Ryan Asbury and John Mattocks Parker; a great-granddaughter, Karlie R. Schumacher; her sister, Roseanne Stevens (Cliff); her brother, Richard (Jeanne) Ellcey of Winlock and many other relatives. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; her father, Frederick and a brother Jim.

There will be no formal funeral service.
