Obituary

Nancy Diane Breitsprecher, 80, former Lieutenant with the Westport Police Department, died Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 11, 2017, at Riverside Place in Hoquiam, Wash.

Nancy was born in Pasco, Wash. to Russell and Dorothy (Behrman) Webber.

She married John Breitsprecher on June 7, 1965, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho and they moved to Westport. In 1969, Nancy joined the Westport Police Dept. and worked there for 16 years. She retired in 1985.

She was a charter member of the Westport Volunteer Ambulance Service. During the 1970’s Nancy was an active member of the National Organization for Women (NOW), she was a leader in the movement for women’s rights. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and reading. After retiring, she and John spent many winters in Arizona. Her greatest accomplishment was her children and getting to spend time with her grandchildren.

Nancy is survived by her husband of 51 years, John Breitsprecher of Westport; two sons: Galen (Elvira) Freed of Redmond, Wash. and Dennis (Cathie) Freed of Spokane, Wash.; daughters: Bonnie (Mike) Nelson of Pasco, Wash., Terrie Lewis of Klamath Falls, Ore., Tracy (Ron) Andersen of Aberdeen and Dana Breitsprecher of Ocosta; a brother, Eugene Webber of Pasco, Wash.; sisters: Betty, Judy, Cherry and Candace; 20 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

There will be a time of visitation and viewing on Thursday, Jan. 19 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Fern Hill Funeral Home, Aberdeen, Wash. A funeral service will be held on Friday, Jan. 20 at 1 p.m. in Fern Hill Funeral Home’s Chapel, with burial to follow in Fern Hill Cemetery.
