Marjorie Irene (Pecola) Paige, age 89, a longtime resident of Hoquiam, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at Pacific Care and Rehabilitation Center in Hoquiam.

Marjorie Irene (Pecola) Paige, age 89, a longtime resident of Hoquiam, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 6, 2018, at Pacific Care and Rehabilitation Center in Hoquiam. Mrs. Paige was born on May 24, 1929, in Pe Ell, Wash., to Charlie Joseph and Sophia Josephine (Pluta) Pecola.

Irene graduated from Pe Ell High School on June 3, 1947. During her high school years, she was actively involved in baton twirling and cheerleading. In 1948, she attended DeWitts Beauty School.

On June 17, 1950, she married her true love, Richard Paige. They lived in Central Park and Aberdeen before moving to Hoquiam. They had four children, Richard Jr., Herbert, Sandra and Patricia; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Irene and Richard were outstanding foster parents for several years in Grays Harbor, helping many children. She loved to bake, cook and enjoyed family vacations at Mt. Rainier, Lake Quinault and Kalaloch Lodge.

Irene was a big fan of polka music and was known for her yodeling and accordion skills. She was very proud of her Polish heritage and both she and Richard were members of the Polish Club in Aberdeen. She had been a member of Our Lady of Good Help Catholic Church.

Visitation will be at the Coleman Mortuary on Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at noon on Thursday, Oct. 11, 2018, followed by a pot-luck meal at the church lounge. Interment will be at Hoquiam’s Sunset Memorial Park.

Funeral arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary in Hoquiam.
