LaVonda Kaye Turpin, age 65, a longtime resident of Hoquiam, died on Thurday, Aug. 2, 2018, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. She was born on Aug. 5, 1952, in Myrtle Point, Ore., to Ronald “Bud” Glenn Grant and Eileen Maye (Barkdoll) Grant.

LaVonda loved everyone she met and treated all like family. She always greeted you as honey or sweetheart with a big huge smile. LaVonda loved her job at Swansons and was loved by many. Each morning she looked forward to visits with her great-granddaughter, Maysen Jaye. These visits made her day. The community and family have lost an incredible woman. She will forever be in our heart.

Last January, LaVonda celebrated 50 years of marriage to her love Joe.

In addition to her husband Joe, LaVonda is survived by her son Monte Turpin of Hoquiam; a twin sister, LaDonna Butcher; a brother Lloyd Grant; a grandson, Dyllin Drolz; granddaughter, Mariyah Turpin and great-granddaughter, Maysen Jaye Doll; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members. They all knew that her door was always open to them.

Her son Tony Turpin and two brothers, Ronald Grant and Gary L. Grant, died previously.

A celebration of life with a pot-luck meal will be from 12:00 Noon to 4 p.m. at the 40 et 8 on Aug. 26, 2018.
