Kenneth Paul Fretz, a Grayland resident of 19 years, died at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, Aberdeen, Monday, Feb. 11, 2019.

Kenneth Paul Fretz, a Grayland resident of 19 years, died at Grays Harbor Community Hospital, Aberdeen, Monday, Feb. 11, 2019. He was 63. Ken was born in Easton, Pennsylvania, June 3, 1955, the son of Alonzo and Janet Mae (Everett) Fretz.

Ken was raised in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and came to Oregon when he was 17. He graduated from Reynolds High School in Portland in 1974. He had worked in many areas in the western United States, operating a bowling pro shop and then working for Intel in Arizona. He would get training as a correctional officer in Bent County Correctional Center, Colorado, in the 1990s, coming to Grayland in 2000 to work at Stafford Creek Correctional Center in 2000. He retired due to disabilities in 2005.

He married Rae Lynn Killingbeck at Tokeland, March 16, 2002.

Ken enjoyed bowling, and as a photographer he liked driving on the beach taking wildlife pictures.

Besides his wife, Rae of the family home in Grayland, Ken is survived by a daughter: Heather Bryanne Reeves, Phoenix, Arizona; a step-daughter, Amber (Doic) Phelps, Anderson, California; a step-son: Coleman Webb, South Bend, Washington; a brother: Barry (Denise) Fretz, Sr., Keystone, South Dakota; a nephew: Brian (Tracy) Stamm, Estacada, Oregon; and also four grandchildren and one great-grandson.

A celebration of Ken’s life will be held later in the Spring and will be announced as details become available.
