Kathy passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 24, 2018, in Seattle, Wash. as a result of lung cancer.

Kathy passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 24, 2018, in Seattle, Wash., as a result of lung cancer.

She was born Oct. 20, 1955, in Billings, Mont. After moving to Hoquiam, Wash., Kathy was raised by George and Doris Rogers with her five siblings. She graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1973. After serving in the U.S. Army from 1973 until 1977, Kathy returned to Hoquiam and went to school to become a nurse. She was a lifelong Hoquiamite.

Kathy loved her family and friends. She was avid reader and avowed Trekkie. She loved sewing and making items for her family. She enjoyed going out to the beach to walk her dogs and going to the casino. She also liked getting her hands dirty in the garden and working on her house. She always had a project to work on.

Kathy is preceded in death by her mother, Doris Rogers, and her brother, Michael Rogers.

She is survived by her husband, John W. “Bill” Simons; her three children – son Christopher and his wife, Elaina; son Joshua; and daughter Cinnamon and her husband, Chad; her two grandchildren – Casen and Elora Stubb; her father George Rogers; her sister Jeanne Krupp; her brother Ed Rogers; her brother Tom Rogers; and her sister Carolyn Hernandez; as well as multiple nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place on Feb. 9, 2019, at 2 p.m. at the Hoquiam VFW.
