Karl Eugene Hanson Sr. of Aberdeen passed away on Sept. 14, 2018, at the age of 68 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Karl Eugene Hanson Sr. of Aberdeen passed away on Sept. 14, 2018, at the age of 68 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

Karl was born on March 27, 1950, in Aberdeen, Wash., to John and Ruth Hanson, both of whom preceded him in death.

Karl is survived by two sons, Karl Jr. (Megan) of Seattle, Wash., and Paul (Tiffany) Portland, Ore.; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Frank Mathews (Debra) of Aberdeen, James Mathews (Darlene) of Aberdeen, John Hanson (Becky) of Kelso; a sister Shirley Mathews Davenport of Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Karl graduated from Aberdeen High School, where he was a member of the high school marching band. After high school he held a variety of jobs including chip truck driver for Weyerhaeuser and many years as maintenance supervisor at Harbor Health Care in Aberdeen. He was an accomplished guitar player and was a member of the well-known Entertainer band that played at many venues throughout the area.

There will be a memorial and potluck held on Oct. 13, at the Cosmopolis Lions Club Park, starting at 1 p.m. Please feel free to join us and bring your favorite dish and a memory to share.
