Joseph William Bland, III, 53 years of age and a lifetime Harborite, died on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash.

Joseph William Bland, III, 53 years of age and a lifetime Harborite, died on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital in Aberdeen, Wash. He was born on Sept. 17, 1964, in Aberdeen, Wash. to Joseph William Bland Jr. and Shirley (Zelepuza) Bland.

He was raised and attended school in Hoquiam and graduated from Hoquiam High School in 1984. While in school he played on the football and basket ball teams.

He had worked as a log truck driver for various local companies, cut firewood and had worked at the Sportsman’s Cove Lodge on Prince of Wales Island in Alaska. His travels had taken him to various parts of the west coast and to Reno.

He is survived by his mother, Shirley Bland Woods of the family home in East Hoquiam; his sister, Jodie Gibbons and her husband David of Hoquiam; his niece, Tawnee Gibbons; his nephew, Dalton Gibbons; his great-nephew, Ryder Gibbons and other relatives.

Joe’s family sends a special “Thank You” to Patty and Matt of the Sportsman’s Cove Lodge located on the Prince of Wales Island in Alaska.

A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam, Wash.
