John R. “Bob” Conway

John R. “Bob” Conway was born on June 8, 1928, in Cosmopolis, Wash. and passed away at the age of 89 on Sept. 15, 2017.

John R. “Bob” Conway was born on June 8, 1928, in Cosmopolis, Wash., and passed away at the age of 89 on Sept. 15, 2017. He was the oldest son of John L. “Jack” and Emma (BeeBe) Conway. Bob grew up in the Wishkah Valley in Aberdeen, Wash., and graduated in March of 1946. In September of 1946, he enlisted in the Army and completed his basic training at Fort Lewis, went on to communication school in Seattle, Wash., and then was assigned to serve in the Alaska Communication System, Anchorage, Alaska. Discharged in October of 1949, he returned to Aberdeen.

Bob was a pioneer in the transportation industry in the Portland, Ore., area where he lived for the past 60 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his brother Floyd Conway, his sister MaryEllen (Conway) Pellervo, and sons Wes Conway and Robert “Rob” Conway. Bob is survived by his wife Judy, brothers Ron (Lucille) Conway, Loren (Loretta) Conway both from Wishkah, Jim Conway of Aberdeen, Wash., his two sisters BeBe Anne (Conway) Scott of Hoquiam, Wash., Patsy (Conway) (Dennis) Rose of Wishkah, sons Rodney Conway of Aberdeen, Wash., Delbert (Vickie) Conway of Fairview, Ore., Randy Conway of Tacoma, Wash., Ken (Karen) Conway of Vancouver, Wash., Clint Conway of Hoquiam, Wash. and his daughter Brenda Conway also of Hoquiam, Wash., his step-sons Randy Sullivan of Eugene, Ore. and Rick Sullivan of LaGrange, Ky., as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins!!

Graveside services will be held for family and close friends at the Wishkah Valley Cemetery, 43 W. Wishkah Road, Aberdeen, Wash. on Saturday, Sept. 23, at 11 a.m. A celebration of life will follow from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Elk’s Lodge, 624 K Street, Hoquiam, WA 98550.
