Joan Eleanor VanSteenkiste of Warm Beach Senior Community Center in Stanwood, Wash., passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2017. She was 84 years old.

Ms. VanSteenkiste was born on Dec. 17, 1932 in Aberdeen, Wash.; the daughter of Edna Lund and Scott Stevens. She was raised in Aberdeen and graduated from J.M. Weatherwax High School and went to Grays Harbor Community College.

Survivors include her son; David Barbee of Burien, Wash., her two daughters; Sandy Huskinson of Fall City, Wash. and Debby Johnson of Colorado Springs, Colo. and her four grandchildren; Cory, Kristi, Mark and Shawn; and one great-granddaughter Layla.

A remembrance gathering of family will be planned at a later date at Sandy Huskinson’s residence.
