Janice Eileen Lewin, 66, a lifelong resident of the Harbor, died at her home near Montesano, Wednesday, July 12, 2017. She was born in Aberdeen on Oct. 11, 1950, the daughter of Donald and Eileen (Dagau) Kietel. She graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1968 and would later attend Grays Harbor College.

She worked in the plywood mills before entering nursing at Pacific Care Center and then for several years at Westhaven Villa Assisted Living, retiring in 2015.

She married Robert Lewin Jr., July 6, 1974, in Aberdeen. They later divorced.

She enjoyed gardening, raising strawberries, doing puzzles and playing pool. She was an avid sports watcher.

Janice is survived by a son: Daryl and wife Christina Lewin, Aberdeen; her mother: Eileen Kietel, Aberdeen; a brother: Donald Jr. and wife Donna Kietel, Montesano; and also a grandson, Kole.

Visitation will held from 1 to 5 p.m., Thursday, July 20, in the chapel at Fern Hill Funeral Home.

A graveside funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, July 21, in St. John’s Cemetery, Wishkah Valley. A potluck celebration of her life will be held at Country Estates Recreation Hall, 57 Clemons Rd., Montesano, after the graveside service. Visitation will held from 1 to 5 p.m., Thursday, July 20, in the chapel at Fern Hill Funeral Home.
