James “Jimmy” Wilcox Sr., 72, of Napavine, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018.

James “Jimmy” Wilcox Sr., 72, of Napavine, passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018. He was born in Aberdeen, Wash. to the late Virgil and Jennie (Schiller) Wilcox and was the oldest of three children.

At a young age, Jimmy excelled at sports. He graduated from Ocosta High School, where he held several records in the shot put and discus. He attended Grays Harbor College and was drafted into the Army, serving in Korea. Jimmy was released early to attend Western Washington University. His love for children finally brought him to Napavine, where he taught and coached for many years at Napavine High School.

Jimmy is survived by, his children Jim Jr. of Portland, Ore., and Dan (Gale) of Las Vegas, Nev.; two sisters, Rita and Laura (Larry), both of Westport, Wash.; and many beloved grandchildren, nephews, cousins, friends, former relatives and racquetball opponents. Jimmy’s greatest joy in life was meeting and influencing kids. We will all miss him terribly! A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 19, 2018, 2 p.m. at North Willapa Harbor Grange, 3198 State Route 105, Grayland, WA.
