Harry Charles Simpson Sr. of Hoquiam passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital.

Harry Charles Simpson Sr. of Hoquiam passed away Thursday, Nov. 8, 2018, at Grays Harbor Community Hospital. He was 80. Harry was born on April 27, 1938, to Charles and Bessie (Hoover) Simpson in Hoquiam, Wash. The family later moved and Harry graduated from Weatherwax High School in Aberdeen.

Shortly after graduation Harry enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He served as a Seaman Recruit with the rank of an Airman Apprentice. After acquiring a foot injury he was honorably discharged and returned home to Grays Harbor.

Harry enjoyed hot rods, riding his motorcycle and picking for good deals. When he was home he would tend his vegetable garden with the utmost care.

Harry is survived by his sons Harry Simpson Jr. and Rodney Simpson both of Elma; daughters Terrie Stutesman of McCleary, Kim Stenson of Aberdeen, and Bonnie Simpson of Aberdeen; siblings Leah Fletcher of Vancouver, Dixie Norton of Rainer, Bob Simpson of Seattle, Ray Simpson, Barb Norton, and Bonnie Rouska all of Centralia; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Bessie Simpson; daughter Pamela Irene Simpson; grandson Jimmy Simpson; and siblings Leonard Simpson, LeRoy Simpson and Leatha Spencer.

A celebration of Harry’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at the Aberdeen Elks Lodge #593, 1712 S Boone St.
