George Axel Henning Jr. of Henning Salvage peacefully passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at his home.

George Axel Henning Jr. of Henning Salvage peacefully passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019, at his home. He was 80. George was born on Oct. 22, 1938, to George and Mary Henning Sr. in Aberdeen, Washington. In June of 1957 George graduated from J.M. Weatherwax High School and continued to stay true to the Blue and Gold through his years.

On July 8, 1961, George married Andrea Lee Henning. Together they spent many years traveling, exploring nature and collecting antiques. When George decided to join the National Guard Andrea was there to support him every step of the way. After five years, George was honorably discharged as an E5 on June 10, 1965.

After the military George became involved with the American Legion and Mission Convent Church in Aberdeen, Washington. He loved photography, fishing, hunting, and his pets. He made sure to stay active in all of his interests while running Henning Salvage for 42 years with his family.

George is survived by his wife Andrea Henning of Aberdeen, Washington; sons Mark (Cynthia) Henning of Aberdeen, Washington, Greg (Angie) Henning of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Aaron Henning of Aberdeen, Washington; brother Herbert (Denise) Henning of Veneta, Oregon; brother-in-law Larry Wishart of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; grandchildren Amber Lee, Michelle, and Issac; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Mary Henning and sister Rena Wishart.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at the Church of the Nazarene, 101 South H Street, Aberdeen. Viewing will be held prior to the service from Noon to 2 p.m. Reception to follow service. George will be laid to rest at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen with military honors.
