Forrest Roger Stratton “Frosty”, 80, of Hoquiam passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Montesano Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Forrest Roger Stratton “Frosty,” 80, of Hoquiam passed away Thursday, July 5, 2018, at Montesano Health and Rehabilitation Center. Forrest was born Nov. 15, 1937, in Spokane, Wash., to Joseph and Helen (Connell) Stratton.

He was raised in Kent and graduated from Kent Meridian High School in 1955. Following high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and proudly served for 19 years as an aircraft mechanic, retiring in 1974.

While enlisted in the Navy he met Elsie Louise Adkins and married in 1956 in Pocomoke City, Md., while stationed in Chincoteague, Va.

After retirement from the Navy, he settled in Burien, Wash. and worked for his brother Scott who owned Scott’s Appliance Service in Burien. He moved to Satsop and started Frosty’s Appliance Repair until his beloved wife Elsie’s illness. They moved to Matthews, Va. to be closer to Elsie’s family until she passed away due to cancer in 1998.

Forrest moved back to Washington and was a dedicated volunteer for organizations his such as fireman, Little League coach and volunteer at Grays Harbor Community Hospital where he was selected as volunteer of the year. He enjoyed Bingo at the Aberdeen Elks on Wednesday nights and karaoke on Saturday nights. He was a V.F.W. Life Member and member of the Elks.

He is survived by three sons, Roger Dale (Kina) of El Paso, Texas, Rex Wade (Marjorie) of Ocean Shores, Wash., and Joseph James Stratton of Everett, Wash.; and brother Frank Stratton of Selah, Wash. He leaves behind 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Elsie, Forrest was also preceded in death by his daughter Ivy Lynn Stratton; seven brothers Dick, Emmett, Lonnie, Josie, Neil, Scott and Mike and sisters Verna, Iona, Lois, Rose Marie, Sandra, and Joy Anne. He also had a special friend Georgina Osborne who passed away last year.

A service with military honors will take place at 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 26, 2018, at Tahoma National Cemetery in Kent followed by a celebration of life at the Lutheran Church of the Cross, 23810 112th Ave. S.E. in Kent at 2 p.m.
