Ernestine (Valentine) Wolfe died peacefully Feb. 3, 2019, surrounded by her family at the age of 95 at the Montesano Rehabilitation Center. She and her twin sister, Eunice, were born Sept. 8, 1923, to Silver and Alice (Fry) Valentine up the Wynoochee Valley where “Coke,” as her family of 14 brothers and sisters called her, grew up and went to school. After school, Ernestine and Eunice went to work at the St. Joseph Hospital in Aberdeen. There she met her soldier-boy Vernon Wolfe at Sam Benn Park. They married on Oct. 1, 1942. They celebrated over 50 years together and raised eight children before he passed away in 1996.

Mother was proud of her chosen career — “A MOTHER”. “Job well done, Mom!”

Mom is survived by her eight children: Verna Meyer, Teresa Thomas, Linda (Ken) Mills, Tom (Mary) Wolfe of Montesano; Tina (Arie) Callaghan, Rod (Renéa) Wolfe of Elma; Tim (Betty) Wolfe of Winlock, and Gary Wolfe of Lacey; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. Mother was preceded in death by one daughter, Pamela Gail, in 1958 and one granddaughter, Michelle Wolfe, in 2014.

Mother’s life was celebrated (as she requested) on her 95th birthday in September by all of her family, extended family and many friends. The private graveside service will be for her children and families only. At this time the family would like to thank all those at the Montesano Rehab Center for taking such loving care of our Mother. She loved every one of you, “job well done, we love you” and all of you who popped in to visit made Mom’s day. Thank you. She always said “you can’t guess who came and saw me today!”
