Donald Leonard Lorentsen, a lifelong resident of Pacific County, passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at Willapa Harbor Hospital in South Bend.

Donald Leonard Lorentsen, a lifelong resident of Pacific County, passed away Saturday, Oct. 20, 2018, at Willapa Harbor Hospital in South Bend. He was 81. Don was born Nov. 25, 1936, in Raymond, Wash., to Leonard and Tenne (Worden) Lorentsen.

Don graduated from Raymond High School in 1955. Following high school, he served in the U.S. Army for two years. He graduated from Central Washington University in 1962, where he earned his bachelor’s degree and later his master’s degree in special education. Starting his teacher career in Chinook, Wash., and later in Alaska, Don had worked for the South Bend School District for 30 years, as both a teacher and principal.

He loved teaching and spending time with his family. He was an avid hunter and particularly enjoyed fishing the local rivers and bay.

On Dec. 25, 1962, Don married Jane Stockbridge in Gig Harbor, Wash. She survives him at the family home.

In addition to his wife, Don is also survived by his son Ron Lorentsen of Seattle, Wash.; daughter Jody Lorentsen Murdock of Raymond, Wash. and four grandchildren, Mia Lorentsen and Elliott, Carson and Cooper Murdock. He was preceded in death by his grandson Maxwell Murdock.

Don will be placed at Menlo Cemetery at a later date. There will be no formal services.
