Dennis Merle Broten of Cosmopolis passed away at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle after a brief illness. He was 34. Dennis was born Oct. 17, 1982, in Olympia, Wash., to Kenneth and Dorothy (Vessey) Broten.

Dennis was raised in Aberdeen and graduated from Ocosta High School in 2000 and Wyo Tech in 2001.

On May 30, 2015, Den married Teresa Hensley in Aberdeen. She survives him at the family home.

Den worked as a diesel mechanic for Western Peterbuilt and had also worked for JHD Diesel.

Den was a loving husband with a heart of gold. Rarely did you see him without a smile on his face. He loved all children and did anything to make them happy, including tearing apart the living room to make them a fort. He looked forward to camping in the summer as well. But as soon as August hit, his true passion was in full swing as hunting was his favorite thing to do.

In addition to his loving wife Teresa, he is also survived by his parents Ken and Dorothy Broten of Aberdeen; two sisters Carla and Mark Wilson, Jessica Scott and Lee Leach; six nephews Chase Wilson, Kalvyn Scott, Scott Eastman and Tyler, Gabe and Aiden Hensley; four nieces Kendal Wilson, Emily Scott and Megan and Katie Hensley; step-sons Trevor and Ryan; step-granddaughters Rowen and Kieran.

A graveside service was held June 24, at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen.
