David G. Williams

David Glenn Williams was born on Jan. 24, 1953.

David Glenn Williams was born on Jan. 24, 1953. David was the handsome son of Air Force parents, stationed at Cheyenne, Wyoming. David suddenly passed away in Olympia on Nov. 25, 2018, from cardiac arrest. David lost his father, Glenn Patrick Williams in 2013. David’s mother, Janet Dreyer (Brinton), resides in Seaview, Washington.

David lived most of his life in western Washington. He grew up in Ridgefield, Vancouver and Chehalis, attending Union Ridge Elementary, Shumway Junior High, Hudson’s Bay, and WF West high schools. As a young adult he moved to Centralia/Chehalis, and he was able to make new friends and reconnect with many family members in the area. In Centralia, he was employed at Bank Check Supply. He lived nearby at the South Tower Apartments and walked to and from work. He attended classes at Centralia College.

David was married to Connie Badavinac (Davis) of Centralia in 1977. David continued working for Bank Check Supply/Intercheck Inc in management positions in Lakewood, Washington and Fairfield, California. In 1985, David married Linda Goodrum (Ray) of Olympia, which brought David his only child.

David was never afraid to start over at any time. He could accomplish whatever he set his mind to. For instance, after much training, he was very proud to complete the Olympia Marathon. He changed his career path in the late 1980s and became a bread salesman/driver for Gai’s Bakery which was acquired by Franz in 1997. David’s bread career sent him to the Tri-Cities, Hamilton, Montana, back to Lacey, and finally to Aberdeen, where he earned the Ocean Shores route. David became known as “Depot Dave” and in Ocean Shores; he was, “Dave the Bread Guy”.

Throughout his life David was an eternal optimist. He believed in science and God. David had become interested in politics especially during the 21st century. He enjoyed science fiction, adult TV cartoons, sports (Cowboys, Seahawks, Red Sox and Mariners), gemology (“you can’t beat it”), clam digging, rock hounding (with 10 year old puppy Vinnie), had a great love for ALL music and traveling the world with his best friend and confidant, Therese Hensley of Ocean Shores. Since 2005, their companionship brought the most happiness to David. “Uncle David” was a special part of Therese’s family; Wendy, Kenny, KJ, Tim, and Vinnie the weimaraner dog.

David is survived by his son, David Andrew Patrick Williams and wife Margo of Phoenix, Arizona. David had five brothers and two sisters from blended families; Jeff Williams (Olympia), Scott Williams (Centralia), Mike Williams (Woodland), David Zoeter (Roseburg, Oregon), Patrick Williams (Sequim), Christie Bartlett (Seaview, Washington), and Lisa Mellinger (Ashland, Oregon), step-mother, Viola Williams of Centralia who meant a lot to David. David is already missed by many family members, nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles. David had great fondness and respect for both of his grandmothers; Winnifred Irish and Ruth Young. He also admired his granddad, DW Brinton.

David had a heart of gold and was a very giving human being. He gave us his sense of humor, his charm, his laughs, his honest opinion (most often proved correct), and, he gave the most genuine smile. Those gifts David gave most freely to those that knew him, can now be replaced with the smiles of fond remembrances.

You knew you were in David’s confidence:

If you heard him say (in a Reagan voice) “well, uh, Nancy…”.

If you told David something and he said, “what? what?”.

If he told you something and finished with, “and, it’s a great way to stay in shape”.

David was a member of Ocean Shores Elks. A memorial is scheduled and will take place at the Ocean Shores Elks on June 1, 2019, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m.
