Loving husband, father, grandpa, and veteran David Carl Holm passed away Friday, April 5, 2019, at Providence St. Peter Hospital.

Loving husband, father, grandpa and veteran David Carl Holm passed away Friday, April 5, 2019, at Providence St. Peter Hospital. He was 82. David was born on Feb. 18, 1937, to Gunnar and Kaarina Holm in Berkeley, California. He graduated from Berkeley High School in 1955 and immediately enlisted in the United States Navy. David retired as a Chief Machinist Mate and served tours in Taiwan, Vietnam and Korea aboard the USS Hancock and the USS Ramsey.

After 20 years, David was discharged from the military and went to work at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard. He worked at “Shop 38” for 20 years before his retirement.

On Oct. 11, 1963, David married Virginia Johnson in Coronado, California. They enjoyed many family camping trips and wonderful years of marriage before her passing in 2014.

David loved watching old western shows and football. He was a true “12th Man” and watched the Seahawks every game.

David is survived by his daughters Vicki (Ron) Montoure and Valerie (Ron) Foulds both of Hoquiam; sons Daniel (Nancy) Holm and Jeff (Shelby) Johnson both of Bremerton; sister Pat (Dick) Pfremmer of Jacksonville, Oregon; six grandchildren Erinn (Keith) Ounsted, Kelsey Foulds, Katie (Jeff) Foulds, Jeremy (Amber) Foulds, Josh Holloway, and Riley (Jennifer) Johnson; and four great-grandchildren Mason, Addy, Ellison, and Emeri. He is also survived by numerous family member in the San Francisco Bay area that he loved dearly.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 51 years, Virginia Lee Holm.

David and Virginia will be placed at Sunset Memorial Park in Hoquiam, Washington.
