Darylene Adele Henderson, 86, longtime Aberdeen resident and homemaker, died Monday morning, Oct. 1, 2018, at Grays Harbor Health and Rehab in Aberdeen, Wash.

Darylene Adele Henderson, 86, longtime Aberdeen resident and home­maker, died Monday morning, Oct. 1, 2018, at Grays Harbor Health and Rehab in Aberdeen, Wash.

She was born on Nov. 6, 1931, in Hoquiam to Edwin and Wanda (Smith) Halvorsen. They moved to Skagit County when she was a child and returned to Aberdeen when she was in high school. She later graduated from Weatherwax High School in 1948 and then went on to Grays Harbor College for a year.

She worked for the Grays Harbor Social Security Dept. for two years.

In 1951, Darylene married Harold D. Vessey and became a stay at home Mom. Harold pass away in 1975. Darylene went back to work for Mill & Industrial Supply in Aberdeen for the next two years until she met James Henderson and they wed on Nov. 4, 1977, at Central Park Baptist Church. She returned home to take care of her family. He passed away on April 5, 2005.

Darylene was a lifetime member of the Aberdeen Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed reading, cooking and camping. She always had a dog as long as she could remember.

Darylene is survived by her son Paul (Sherri) Vessey of East Hoquiam and a daughter Karen Benavidez of Hoquiam; a brother, Mark Halvorsen of Juneau, Alaska; two granddaughters: Joli Sletten of Aberdeen and Tracey Benavidez of Hoquiam; three great-grandchildren: Tristen Hosford, Jaiden Walker and JJ Walker.

There will be no services. She will be inurned with husband, James Henderson at Fern Hill Cemetery in Aberdeen.

Cremation arrangements are entrusted to Twibell’s Fern Hill Funeral Home in Aberdeen, Wash.
