Christine Kay (Raphoon) Summers, age 50, passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2018, at Astria Regional Medical Center in Yakima, Wash.

Christine Kay (Raphoon) Summers, age 50, passed away unexpectedly on March 7, 2018, at Astria Regional Medical Center in Yakima, Wash. Christine was born Sept. 16, 1967, in Wausau, Wis. to Ralph and Sandra (Mirek) Raphoon.

Christine lived in Rothschild, Wis. until the age of 11 when her family moved to Montesano, Wash. She graduated from Montesano High School in 1986 and enjoyed playing volleyball and fastpitch during her high school years. She attended Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Wash. and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in History. She started in the insurance field in 1991. She worked as a Commercial Lines Account Manager for a few agencies in the Yakima Valley for 27 years. Most recently, Payne West Insurance, in Yakima. Christine married Ed Summers on Aug. 1, 1998.

Christine loved bowling with her daughters, watching NASCAR races with her friends, camping and traveling with her family, and watching football. During football season she could be found wearing green and yellow and cheering for her favorite team, The Green Bay Packers. Christine had a great sense of humor and she loved to laugh. She had a heart of gold and was always willing to help her family or friends. After her father died in 2008 she stepped up as the oldest child and took over the family affairs for her mother. She was a great mother to her three daughters, whom she loved dearly. She leaves a big hole in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. She will be greatly missed by everyone.

Christine is survived by her beloved family. Her husband Ed Summers, Yakima, her three daughters Amanda Cramer, Seattle, Baylee Summers and Sarah Summers, Yakima, her brother Scott (Jamie) Raphoon, Yakima, her sister Tammy (Jeff) McKee, Selah, her brother Paul Raphoon, Selah, her mother Sandra Raphoon, Selah, Father and mother-in-law Bill and Eunice Summers, Mt. Vernon, her sister-in-law Alice (Mel) Takehara, Mt. Vernon, her nephews Noah McKee, Selah, David Takehara, Mt. Vernon and nieces Lindsey McKee, Selah, Carter Raphoon, Harper Raphoon and Parker Raphoon, Yakima, and Grace Takehara, Mt. Vernon. She is also survived by many friends. She is preceded in death by her father, Ralph Raphoon.

The funeral service was held on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Brookside Funeral Home, 500 Prospect Road, Moxee, Wash.; followed by a reception at the Yakima Arboretum. A private burial service will take place at a later date in Rothschild, Wis.
