A graveside service for Charlotte Mae Schave will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, in Fern Hill Cemetery, Aberdeen. A potluck luncheon celebration will follow in the Dorothy Mann Reception Room at Fern Hill Funeral Home for family and friends who care to join us. Guests at the potluck are asked to provide side dishes or salads, with the main course and cake being provided by family.

Charlotte, a former resident of Westport, died at Pacific Care Center, Hoquiam, July 8, 2017. She was 101 years of age.

Charlotte was born Dec. 20, 1915, in St. Cloud, Minn., the daughter of Oscar and Ida (Welch) Christopherson. She was married to Herman Schave in St. Cloud on Jan. 30, 1934. They came with their children to Washington in the Winter of 1949 and Charlotte had resided in the Harbor area since that time.

Shortly after arriving in Washington, Charlotte worked as the hostess at The Coffee Cup in Aberdeen. She later spent six years working as housekeeper for Father Tom at the St. Mary’s Parish in Aberdeen and then in her later years served as manager of the Surf Side Resort in Westport.

Charlotte is survived by her sister: Zona Miller, Westport; two sons: Dennis and wife Evelyn Schave, Phoenix, Ariz. and Peter and wife Elizabeth Schave, Aberdeen; four daughters: Deanna Bell, Westport, Charlene and husband Woodie Hodge, Panama City Fla., Karen Reese, Whitefish, Mont., and Carla Hatch, Hoquiam; and also several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
