Charles Johanesen Damm, 87, a lifelong resident of Aberdeen, Wash. passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at Montesano Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Charles Johanesen Damm, 87, a lifelong resident of Aberdeen, Wash. passed away peacefully on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2017, at Montesano Health and Rehabilitation Center. Chuck was born May 13, 1930, in Aberdeen, Wash. to Sigurd B. Johanesen and Agnes Grey (Carsen) Damm. Chuck graduated from Weatherwax High School.

He had worked for Posey Manufacturing Company as a piano soundboard worker.

Chuck was an avid bowler; he bowled for 70 years for the Aberdeen Elks and Eagles. Chuck served as secretary on and off for many years. He was involved with the junior bowlers and helped run numerous tournaments throughout Grays Harbor. Chuck also loved to play horseshoes and helped run tournaments from here to Seattle.

Chuck enjoyed watching his family and friend’s children play different sports. He would go to Grays Harbor College to attend plays and some concerts. He also enjoyed watching movies from the 60’s and 70’s. Chuck went for a walk daily to get his “mileage in”.

Chuck was proud to be a member of the Elks for 59 years. He spent countless hours throughout the years volunteering at the Elks, helping with dinners and events. His main area was at the dishwashing machine and he made it known that you’d better stay clear of it.

Charles had several nicknames including, Chuck, Damm Kid, Chucker and Grumpy Uncle Chuckie.

Chuck is survived by his sister Agnes “Sissy” Splinter of Silverdale, Wash. and also several nieces, nephews and many great and great-great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his brother Bert J. Damm and sister May Hardy.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday in the Chapel at Harrison Family Mortuary. A celebration of life is planned for 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Aberdeen Elks.
